The Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR) framework was introduced in 2019 to replace the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme. SECR requires UK companies to report their energy use and carbon emissions in their annual reports.
SECR aims to increase transparency around energy use and carbon emissions while encouraging businesses to implement energy efficiency measures and reduce their carbon footprint.

Who do SECR requirements apply to?
SECR applies to UK companies that meet two or more of the following criteria:
- UK companies with over 250 employees
- UK companies with turnover over £36 million
- UK companies with balance sheet total over £18 million
